Focal is a community service organisation with more than 47 years experience delivering services to the community in particular to people with disabilities and ageing Australians. Focal now operates across South East Queensland more specifically in the areas of Ipswich, Brisbane and Logan.

The Position:

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Support Coordination Assistant to join our passionate team. Reporting to the Support Coordination Leader, this position is offered initially on a Level 2 classification and is responsible for assisting the team to support participants and their families in the delivery of Support Connection and Coordination of Supports to implement NDIS plans.

Working with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and multiple stakeholders, the successful candidate will develop knowledge and skills to equip them to progress to the role of a Support Coordinator (Level 3) once all KPI’s and competencies within this role are achieved.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Initial 12 month maximum term appointment including a 6 month probationary period. At the completion of 12 months, a permanent, full time opportunity may be considered based on candidate performance and business needs.
  • Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm appointment.

The Role:

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Support Co-ordination Leader in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the administrative functions required to support the operation. This includes maintaining knowledge of the participant database and NDIA portal as well as carrying out all administrative duties to assist with new client's coming on board.

The ability to foster and develop strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders as well as participants and families is an essential requirement of the position.

Essential Criteria for the Position

  • Qualifications and / or significant experience working with the community and people with disabilities from diverse cultures and backgrounds,
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills,
  • Demonstrated experience meeting relevant legislation including upholding privacy and confidentiality,
  • Demonstrated organisational skills to effectively manage their own workload and meet deadlines and key performance indicators,
  • High level attention to detail,
  • High level time management skills,
  • Exceptional communication skills,
  • Current Positive Notice – working with children screening check (Blue Card) and Disability Services Positive Notice Card (Yellow Card) prior to commencement,
  • Current National Police Certificate. Must be current with in the last 90 days.
  • Current driver’s license and access to a reliable, registered, comprehensively insured vehicle.

Desirable Criteria for the Position:

Demonstrated knowledge of the NDIS and what it means for customers and organisations. Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or a related field with experience in Disabilities, Mental Health, Child Care or the Human Services Sector. Sound understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (NDIS Act); and National Disability Insurance Scheme Rules and Operational Guidelines https://www.ndis.gov.au/operational-guideline/overview.html.
