The Drug Outreach Lawyer (‘DOL’) Program has been operating for over twenty years and has assisted thousands of individuals whose offending is connected with, or underpinned by, alcohol and drug use that systemically creates disadvantage in engaging equitably with legal services and processes. The DOL program recognises this structural marginalisation by operating within a harm reduction/ harm minimisation framework, and working in strong collaboration with health and allied community services to support better legal outcomes.

The DOL Program Advocacy Officer will provide support for the DOL program’s advocacy, stakeholder engagement and policy work and assist to enhance the capacity of the organisation to carry out the DOL program’s advocacy priorities and focus on integrated practice. This role will involve participating in and documentation of DOL program advocacy activities, mapping of partnerships, collating resources regarding integrated legal practices and harm reduction, data entry and other administrative tasks.

We are seeking someone with high level written and verbal communication skills, a familiarity with harm reduction principles and the AOD sector, and the ability to work collaboratively to foster a cooperative and supportive team.
