We work to identify the challenges, hurdles and barriers faced by people with disability in their everyday lives and then design and build sustainable social enterprise businesses to bridge these gaps.

THE POSITION:

The position of Behaviour Support Coordinator is crucial in helping reduce the impact of challenging behaviours to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families, through the implementation, education and review of positive behaviour support plans, within our enterprises (Jigsaw, Avenue & Accommodation).

The Behaviour Support Coordinator will also be responsible for the training and development of our staff to ensure they are providing person-centred support services and meeting the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake relevant assessments to identify factors of challenging behaviours
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies in consultation with individuals, families and external behaviour support Coordinator practitioners
  • Share learning and provide professional support to our enterprise staff, stakeholders and families to ensure competent understanding and awareness of challenging behaviours and the effective implementation of plans
  • Capture and analyse data in order to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, and review and recommend change where required
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with all parties involved, including service providers, community agencies and Government Departments
  • Participate in team meetings and other engagement opportunities
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to problem solve and review procedures to ensure continuous improvement

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Tertiary qualification in either Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or Speech and Language Pathology (Essential)
  • Substantial clinical experience and knowledge in relevant area of practice with people who exhibit challenging behaviours, intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities (Essential)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge within the disability sector (Preferred)
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and support to staff regarding positive behaviour support (MAPA highly regarded)

REQUIRED TO:

  • Possess the right to work in Australia
  • Possess a current unrestricted NSW driver's license
  • Travel occasionally in Sydney, with willingness and ability to use own car for work purposes
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a current satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate and Working with Children Check
