The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) is the national peak body for multicultural advocacy. At the heart of FECCA’s work is promoting multiculturalism, embodied in equitable policies and non‑discriminatory practices for all Australians, regardless of their cultural, linguistic, ethnic, or religious backgrounds.
FECCA is in Canberra CBD, a short walk to public transport hubs, shopping malls and other amenities. The successful candidate will join FECCA’s growing Health & Ageing Team, a vibrant group of people from various backgrounds and expertise and with tremendous commitment to ensuring the needs and aspirations of Australia’s culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse population are heard by policy and decision makers, as well as the broader public.
This position will be responsible for supporting the coordination and implementation of a national aged care navigation program led by FECCA. The program aims to provide active outreach and engagement to support older people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, their families, and carers to better understand and engage with the aged care system.
The position will also be involved in identifying issues impacting on Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, developing solutions and providing high level policy advice, including through submissions to both government and non-government inquiries and policy reviews. The position will contribute to FECCA’s work in multicultural health and support FECCA’s policy advisory committees in their respective areas of work.
The position reports to the Director of Policy – Health & Ageing and works collaboratively with the FECCA Health & Ageing Team and selected community partners and stakeholders.
