The Federation of Community Legal Centres (the Federation) is a fast-paced and dynamic organisation that seeks to create a fairer Victoria for all members of our community. We are the peak body for Victoria’s Community Legal Centres (CLCs), who are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by legal challenges.

Context

Community need for legal assistance in Victoria has increased significantly in the wake of recent disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, and can be expected to continue to grow.

A key focus continues to be on positioning the Federation and the community legal sector on the frontline of social justice and equality in Victoria via strategic, consistent and compelling communications.

This role reflects the pivotal role communications plays in helping the Federation share with key stakeholders and the wider community the impact that the community legal sector has on Victorian communities.

About the role

You will oversee and implement a strategic communications strategy that positions the Federation and the community legal sector on the frontline of social justice and equality in Victoria.

You will be the communications specialist internally to highlight the important work of our members - an expert in framing complex issues and developing compelling messages that support change.

You will oversee and optimise the Federation’s online presence, ensuring digital communications support and deliver our strategic advocacy priorities.

This role is a rare opportunity to shape the story for a whole sector and to bring the stories of our 48 member CLCs and their community impact to policy makers, funders and the public in new ways.

About you

You’re a communications specialist who is passionate about making an impact. You understand how to position an organisation within its political, legal and social environment to ensure messaging is contemporary, persuasive and powerful.

You have broad experience in communications and are able to provide expert advice in engaging media, advocacy and digital communications. With a passion for social justice and making the world a better place, you will enable us through driving and delivering our communications priorities.

You are a driven, flexible and enabling people leader, who is committed to guiding, supporting and mentoring your team to deliver outcomes.

Rewards and Benefits

The base salary offered is $110,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus annual leave loading, superannuation and generous salary packaging (up to $18,550 pa of your salary tax free).
