The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the financial operations of the organisation, working within the Operations team and across the organisation.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON [RESPONSIBILITIES]

  • Ensure the establishment of effective financial controls, including implementing and maintaining appropriate management accounting and reporting systems, budgetary controls, and expenditure procedures.
  • Complete monthly reporting to the Senior Leadership team, and quarterly reporting to the Finance, Audit, Risk and Management Committee and the Board.
  • Manage and participate in financial operations, including cash flow management, daily and monthly accounting and payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and professional reporting requirements of FARE, including those to the ACNC, ASIC and relating to fundraising.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including reporting, value added analysis and automations of financial processes and systems.
  • Manage annual external reporting and audit, and internal auditor.
  • Work collaboratively with managers and project leads to build capacity and develop and monitor project specific budgets and profit and loss statements.
  • Oversee financial reporting to funders, including government agencies and philanthropic bodies.
  • Developing, updating and implementing operational policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM [ATTRIBUTES]

  • Experience in a senior financial management role with a successful track record of managing staff in a not for profit environment.
  • Professional accounting qualifications.
  • Experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and Boards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards, including ability to interpret and apply these.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages such as Xero.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact at a Senior Management level.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements within the community and not for profit sector, including knowledge of the ACNC and ASIC requirements.
  • Ability to work, lead and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage change and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Willingness to learn, develop and work collaboratively with a passionate team.
