True is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Practitioner to work with our Child and Family Service in Cairns.
As the Senior Practitioner you will be responsible for:
- Clinical supervision for the True Child & Family Counsellors in relation to best practice therapeutic responses for children / young people who have experienced sexual abuse and/or who have used harmful sexual behaviours and their families/carers
- Organising and leading professional development activities such as clinical supervision, therapeutic training programs, case analysis, case conferences and case planning
- Identifying and leading specialist research that contributes to professional knowledge and development of the needs of children / young people who have experienced sexual abuse and/or who have used harmful sexual behaviours and their families/carers
- Providing therapeutic input to policy and practice development, planning and evaluation of True Child and Family Services for quality improvement
- Delivering specialist clinical guidance to external agencies for collaborative responses to the needs of children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse and/or who have used harmful sexual behaviours and their families/carers
- On collaboration with Manager - Child & Family Service, provide training and professional development in relation to identified community needs and emerging issues
- Waitlist management and allocation of clients to counsellors
- Conduct priority appointments, initial assessments or crisis appointments if needed
Selection criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences to such level that entitles membership or registration with respective professional body
- Evidence of membership/registration with respective professional body
- Working with Children Blue Card issued in the state of Queensland
- Extensive experience of working therapeutically with children and families who have experienced trauma, sexual abuse or sexual assault
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with problem sexual behaviours and harmful sexual behaviours in children and young people
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, best practice guidelines, ethical requirements, policies, procedures & protocols in relation to child sexual abuse and child protection
- Experience in working within or in partnerships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations
- Demonstrated understanding of cross-cultural issues in providing counselling and support services to children, families and communities who have experienced sexual assault
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in providing clinical supervision, professional training and evaluation of practice
- Experience in consultation and collaboration with relevant government and community organisations
- Skills in the design and delivery of training programs for professionals
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong computer literacy skills
