Status: Casual (after hours)

As an on - call support worker you will be required to provide support and information to adults who experience recent sexual assault and require assistance outside normal business hours.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing immediate crisis support, procedural information and advocacy for people who have been recently sexually assaulted
• Providing information to family or others supporting people who have been recently sexually assaulted

Cairns Sexual Assault Service is a branch of True Relationships and Reproductive Health (True).

True is a leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services to people in Queensland. True offers clinical, education and information throughout Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast.

Selection criteria

• Relevant qualifications in behavioural sciences, or significant current progress towards same or relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing survivors of sexual violence and current issues in the area of sexual assault, including relevant legislation.
• Experience in providing crisis support.
• Knowledge of interagency protocols in relation to responding to sexual assault
• Ability to provide appropriate written case notes.

Other

• Reliable transport and a current Driver’s Licence.
• The position requires a current positive notice - 'Working with Children ' Blue card issued in the State of Queensland.
