About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in national child and family policy reform. As the National Coalition Engagement Officer, you will support Families Australia’s role convening the National Coalition on Child Safety and Well being.
You will lead the coordination of the National Coalition and deliver targeted consultation and engagement processes, working closely with government, the sector, and First Nations organisations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide secretariat support to the National Coalition, including meetings, governance and communications
- Organise targeted consultations to inform national Action Plans for Safe and Supported: the National Framework for Protecting Australia's Children
- Prepare policy advice and insights to support National Coalition engagement on Safe and Supported
- Build and maintain relationships with Commonwealth Government and sector stakeholders
- Support culturally safe engagement with First Nations organisations, promoting self-determination
- Translate consultation outcomes into briefings, reports and policy inputs
About you
- You are an organised and collaborative professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Hold an interest in promoting better outcomes for children and young people and their families in all their diverse forms
- Hold a commitment to progressing Priority Reforms under the National Agreement to Close the Gap
You will bring:
- Experience in secretariat, coordination or project roles
- Knowledge of family, child or social policy
- Experience engaging with the Commonwealth Government and/or national stakeholders
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Cultural capability and commitment to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
What we offer
- SCHADS Level 5 salary (approximately $62,000 – $68,000 depending on experience + super) at 3 to 3.5 days per week
- Fixed-term 6-month contract with possible extension
