About the Role

In support of our continued growth we’re embarking on a GCP transformation project and you’ll be key to its success. While we’re not an enterprise scale environment, we do have complexity and your skills will be key in ensuring we can scale effectively.

We anticipate the 12 week engagement being broadly broken down to:

  • Weeks 1-4 weeks: undertake a top-to-bottom review of our GCP environments, identifying opportunities to improve our practices and present your recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Weeks 4-6: design and test an implementation plan that encompasses all approved GCP changes, change/risk management, cost forecasts, rollback and training.
  • Weeks 6-10: this is where all your expertise, experience and hard work is put into practice - you will deliver the implementation plan. For the final 2 weeks you will provide support services to any post implementation issues that may arise.

About YOU

You're an experienced GCP engineer with proven experience in implementing, reviewing and improving small to medium sized GCP environments. You live and breathe GCP best practices while favouring simplicity to over-engineering.

To be successful, you will demonstrate success in a similar role coupled with the below:

  • 2+ years of experience designing and implementing GCP solutions for small to medium organisations
  • Expertise in deploying and managing a Google Cloud environment in accordance with best practices
  • Good understanding of core Google Cloud services including: Compute Engine (GCE), Kubernetes Engine (GKE), VPC, Firewalls, File & Block storage, Cloud Functions and Cloud SQL
  • Configuration of backups, monitoring, systems patching and security of GCP
  • Experience in Linux server system admin and scripting skills
  • Skilled in Google services - GCE, GKE, VPC, GCS, Load Balancers, KMS, CloudSQL
  • Hands-on Experience with GCP Foundation, Storage bucket, Backup VPC networks, IAM and Cloud Security
  • Certifications in GCP Certified Associate Cloud Engineer or GCP Certified Cloud Architect.
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps principles an advantage
  • Able to upskill and train team members

Hours: Full time, but with the option to work 0.9

Length of Contract: 3 months

Reports to: General Manager

Salary: $1000/day + 10% superannuation
