The Edmund Rice Centre WA has a proud history and an ongoing commitment to assisting people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Established in 1998 to provide essential settlement services and community education activities in the northern suburbs of Perth, the Centre services have expanded widely throughout the metropolitan area with a particular emphasis on young people and youth leadership as a way of ensuring a positive future for all. The Edmund Rice Centre WA is recognised as one of Australia’s leading service providers by community groups, government and other agencies in the field.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Coordinator works with the assistance of youth workers, volunteers, state sporting associations and other organisations to provide opportunities for:

  1. Greater access to and improved participation in sport and recreation activities by participants
  2. The development of leadership, coaching and management skills that can be applied in a range of pursuits
  3. Increased physical activity; personal and professional development
  4. The building of positive and harmonious relationships with Australian-born youth and adults;
  5. Increased access to local sporting, arts and leadership pathways;
  6. Mainstream local organisations, including local sporting clubs, to increase their membership by linking them with youth interested in ongoing participation.
