Equality Lawyers provides legal services to people with disabilities, their families and supporters. We are a small, boutique practice that has an unwavering commitment to advancing disability rights in Australia.
Throughout 2020, we have seen a new conversation emerge in the community about the importance of keeping people with disabilities and their families safe. A big part of keeping safe is planning safe futures, which in lawyer-speak is drafting complex wills and estates. We are looking for a senior lawyer to join the team to help our families and people with disabilities plan safe futures.
The Future Planning Lawyer will spend their time having the important conversations with families about what is possible to keep everyone safe when they are no longer here, and conducting complex capacity assessments for people with disabilities who have never had the opportunity to have their will done. Your role will also include regular liaison with other estate planning lawyers around Australia as we develop a community of practice to ensure that all people with disabilities and their families plan for safe futures.
Your role may also expand into other areas of our practice such as disability discrimination complaints and NDIS appeals, where skills, interest and time permits.
