The role

  • Support the clients with their personal care needs
  • Assist their involvement within the community
  • Understand and deal with challenging behaviour induced by mental illness
  • Encourage the communication and a trusted-based work relationship
  • Boost their self-confidence
  • Reassure and set boundaries
  • Monitor the client's safety and well-being
  • Regular written reports

You...

  • Must share our values
  • Must have a strong background in mental health or youth
  • Must have demonstrated strong experience with extremely challenging clients
  • Must have experience in providing personal care and be willing to apply it in your job
  • Must have a proven awareness of disability and mental health issues.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in situation de-escalation.
  • Must have a genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
  • Must present an excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must be proactive
  • Must have demonstrated effective listening, empathy and communication skills
  • Must have the ability to think and act calmly and deal sensitively with distressed people
  • Must understand the principles of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality
  • Must be patient and flexible
  • Must be resilient

But also, you must be fun, willing to learn and to share your knowledge, skills and specificities!

You must have:

  • A valid Police Check
  • A valid Working With Vulnerable People Card (WWVP)
  • A driver licence
  • At least 15 hours a week to offer to our clients, over at least 3 days
  • A reasonable flexibility in your availability
  • A valid First Aid certificate
  • Experience and/or qualifications in the field
