Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation

Marra Worra Worra Aboriginal Corporation is the largest and oldest Aboriginal resource agency in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established by traditional land owners, its primary aim is to support the Fitzroy Crossing people in developing strong and sustainable communities and organisations.

Marra Worra Worra works with the Bunuba, Gooniyandi, Wangkatjungka, Walmajarri and Nyikina people, and provides a number of support services in the areas of housing, employment, community development and other elements connected to self determination.

With approximately 100 staff and 650 registered members, Marra Worra Worra provides a forum for the people of the region to discuss and act on issues of common concern.

About the Opportunity

Marra Worra Worra now has a newly created opportunity for a full-time Youth Development Manager to join their team in Fitzroy Crossing, WA.

Reporting to the CEO, you'll be part of the Executive Management Team, integral to the development and implementation of a youth engagement strategy, as well as leading current Youth Programs, including the Remote School Attendance Strategy.

More specifically, your key focus areas will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Leading the development of strategies to engage young people in supported community opportunities;
  • Identifying the needs and priorities of local young people, including any gaps in current youth services and any barriers to participation or engagement;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with other community groups, local organisations, businesses, and other key stakeholders;
  • Developing and implementing the annual Community Attendance Plans and Budgets for the Remote School Attendance Strategy;
  • Maintaining a high level of compliance with all performance, contractual and funding requirements or guidelines; and
  • Monitoring and evaluating program performance, reporting on service delivery results and seeking formal feedback to assess the quality of youth services.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated leadership experience in a Children, Youth and Family Services related position. You will have a sound knowledge of, and demonstrated experience working with young people with trauma, alcohol and other drugs, and/or mental health concerns.

It's crucial that you're a strong communicator, able to build trust and rapport with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Your negotiation and conflict management skills, along with your ability to maintain an open, collaborative culture will be essential to your success in the role.

Importantly, you will have a genuine respect for Aboriginal cultures, with an understanding of responsive ways of working with Aboriginal Clients, Staff and Communities.

Please note: You will need to hold a current Class C Australian driver's licence and have, or be willing to obtain, a national Police Certificate and Working with Children check prior to commencing.
