About the Opportunity

inTouch currently has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader of Direct Services to join their innovate and driven organisation in Richmond/East Melbourne & Dandenong locations on a full-time ongoing basis.

Reporting to the Executive Manager of Client Services, you will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and support to the Direct Services Team, Student placements and Volunteers. This includes ensuring all staff are provided with regular professional supervision and appropriate development and training opportunities to enhance their capacity to provide quality service.

You will also be responsible for developing positive and effective partnerships with external service providers and family violence outreach services.

Some of your key duties will include, but will not be confined to:

  • Providing leadership and direction to Direct Services team members to ensure the needs of women and children are being met
  • Monitoring and managing service requirements and demands, including staff workloads, client allocations and recruitment requirements
  • Supervise and quality control maintenance of client files in line with legislative and policy requirements
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, according to program guidelines and agency registration obligations
  • Work closely & manage relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including fellow team members, community organisations & state & federal government departments

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have a comprehensive understanding of the nature and dynamic of family violence and its impact on victims/survivors, with relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or a related discipline and/or other relevant experience.

In an important position intersecting across all facets of the organisation, you will need to have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to excellent time management and negotiation skills & advanced computer skills and competencies. It would also be an added advantage if you were multilingual or bilingual.

Moreover, an in-depth understanding and awareness of structural and social inequities which discriminate against migrant and refugee women and children will be crucial to your success. Please note that previous experience in the family violence field is a requirement of the role, with applicants who have a background in domestic violence also being highly regarded.

Furthermore, along with a sound knowledge and familiarity of family violence-related policies and legislation, you will possess skills dealing with complex casework situations, including the ability to respond to crises and emergencies.
