About the Organisation

Mala'la Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (MHSAC) is an incorporated community controlled Aboriginal organisation that provides primary health care services and programs to the Maningrida region. MHSAC provides funding to the Maningrida health clinic and the Mala’la Flexible Aged Care Centre, alongside providing the “GREAT” Youth Services program and the Community Wellness program to the community.

MHSAC’s vision is to improve the health and well-being of their people in the Maningrida community and surrounding outstations.

About the Opportunity

MHSAC now has an opportunity for a full-time Manager, Community Wellness to join their dedicated team in Maningrida, NT.

Reporting to the CEO, this autonomous role will see you supervising and managing all staff employed within the Community Wellness and Youth Services Programs, with the goal of enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and families within the community.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Overseeing the development and review of the Community Wellness and Youth Diversion programs;
  • Ensuring Aboriginal values, cultural knowledge and traditions have a prominent place in the development of the Community Wellness team;
  • Delivering evidence based practices aimed at improving outcomes across family counselling, suicide intervention, alcohol and drug addiction, etc.; and
  • Integrating mainstream practices in therapy and counselling with local cultural healing practices.

About the Benefits

MHBAC would like to offer the successful candidate an attractive base salary circa $95,000 - $115,000 (determined by qualifications and experience) plus 9.5% super, alongside a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Salary sacrificing options;
  • Funding up to $4000 annually for return airfares to point of hire;

  • A vehicle for use around the Maningrida region;
  • Relocation and repatriation expense assistance;
  • 6 weeks annual leave + additional leave over the Christmas / New Years period; and
  • 17.5% leave loading!

About the Region

Maningrida is a coastal Aboriginal community in the heart of the Arnhem Land region, located about 520km east of Darwin. The town is a major services centre for the region with a school, health clinic, multiple food outlets and two supermarkets, service station, arts centre, swimming pool, crèche, and a tarmac airport, with commercial flights operating twice daily to Darwin.

Maningrida and the surrounding homelands are an ideal location for keen fishers, with waterways teeming with a wide array of fish such as salmon, barramundi, mangrove jack, golden snapper, Spanish mackerel, trevally and coral trout.
