Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) was established in 2006 to represent the interests of the Kunapa Estate group, who are recognised as traditional owners under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (Northern Territory) and as native title parties under the Native Title Act 1993. The MAC directors are Kunapa people, and are recognised as the senior custodians and decision makers for Kunapa land. The Directors wish to create a future where their children enjoy the best of the modern Australian nation whilst retaining their unique identity and cultural standing as Kunapa people. To do this, they plan to play a strong and sustained role in the local economy and create jobs and income within the community.
MAC and their investment arm, the Manungurra Development Corporation, conduct community development projects on their land holdings in the Barkly region of the Northern Territory, in addition to providing education programs and health and emergency support to carers and family members who are seeking medical treatment outside the area. They also invest part of their wealth in property, financial institutions and in local businesses, including a local hotel.
Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation has a full-time leadership opportunity for a hands-on and flexible General Manager to lead their team in Tennant Creek, NT.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, and with assistance from the current Executive Director, you will be responsible for all facets of MAC's operations, ensuring that community projects and business activities produce the desired results, and are consistent with MAC's overall strategy and mission.
This is an incredibly varied role which will see you performing a broad range of tasks, from meetings with Ministers of the Crown to organising repairs for leaky taps.

MAC is looking for someone who has proven experience as a General Manager or similar, in a remote or under-developed region or country. Although not essential, a qualification in community development, business administration, or a relevant field would be highly regarded.
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate governance, finance, and performance management principles and best practices. You will also need to be familiar with Aboriginal history, culture, and language, and able to operate within the following relevant legislation:
Most importantly, you will be compassionate, emotionally mature, and capable of staying calm and level-headed as you navigate difficult situations. Tennant Creek is a small, remote outback community, and critical to your success will be a willingness and physical ability to live and work in these conditions.
The successful applicant will enjoy an attractive remuneration package circa $110,000 - $134,000 (negotiable with skills and experience) including super, up to 50% accommodation subsidy, and salary sacrifice opportunities.
In addition, Manungurra Aboriginal Corporation will provide successful candidates with a vehicle for work, 4 weeks annual leave, 2 weeks sick leave, and relocation assistance negotiable based on your needs.
