About the Opportunity

Centacare NQ is currently looking for Community Support Workers to join their team in Townsville on a casual basis, working a variety of weekday, weekend, and overnight shifts.

Working with individuals in their home, respite facilities and the community, you will be helping clients achieve their individual goals, promoting a positive image, helping with personal care and domestic support needs.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Organising and facilitating outings and activities related to your client's goals;
  • Encouraging individuals to develop independence and grow personal, community and social relationships;
  • Assisting, with personal care and domestic support needs, where required;
  • Maintaining accurate file notes, ensuring records align with Centacare policies, procedures and relevant legislation;
  • Communicating in a positive manner that encourages cohesive and effective teamwork.

About You

Centacare NQ is looking for confident communicators who are empathetic and genuinely friendly, with the ability to effectively communicate and relate to clients, their carers, families, and friends. Prior experience in aged or disability support services is not essential, provided you are eager and able to learn on the job!

Highly organised, you'll be able to work both autonomously and as part of a driven and passionate team, with strong interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.

It's crucial that you're highly flexible, able to work a variety of morning, afternoon and overnight shifts depending on your client's needs, including weekends.

With a real interest in helping people with a disability, you will be passionate about empowering individuals and providing the best experience possible to the clients in your care.

Please note: Prior to commencing you will need to hold or be willing and eligible to obtain:

  • A current C class driver's licence;
  • Access to a reliable vehicle;
  • A Blue Card and Yellow Card exemption; and
  • A current level 1 First Aid Certificate, with CPR certification.
