North and West Remote Health (NWRH) has multiple ongoing opportunities for Casual Relief Cooks to join their Aged Care facilities in Doomadgee, Normanton or Mornington Island. These are FIFO roles, working a minimum 76 hours a fortnight, as part of a negotiable 2-6 week roster.

Managing all aspects of the kitchen, you'll be providing an efficient, effective and reliable food service, supporting clients' health and well-being with nutritious food and meal-time socialisation.

Some of your more specific duties will include:

  • Providing nutritionally balanced catering services, as part of a dietitian endorsed 4-week rotating menu;
  • Stock ordering and inventory management, in line with food safety requirements and budgetary considerations;
  • Supervising kitchen staff and adhering to hygiene, food and safety standards at all times; and
  • Consulting with the Residential Facility Manager, and the client's family, if required, to manage individual diets, taking into account likes, dislikes and dietary requirements.

About You

NWRH is looking for someone that is well organised, passionate about providing quality, nutritious food, and comfortable working with a multicultural team.

An awareness of local health issues, or any experience working with older people or persons with a disability would be an advantage, but not essential provided you are flexible and willing to learn!

You will need a Statement of Attainment in Safe Food Practices, and will hold either a Certificate in Food Handling or a Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery,

Please Note: Given the nature of this role, you must be comfortable travelling by road and/or small plane. You will also need:

  • A current 'C' Class Driver's License
  • A current influenza vaccination, with ability to provide evidence of this
  • To consent to a criminal record check
