About Pintupi Homelands Health Service

Pintupi Homelands Health Service (PHHS) is an expanding AGPAL accredited primary healthcare facility located in Kintore. We have a dedicated team of nurses, health promotion officers, Aboriginal Health Workers, doctors and support staff that help provide health services to the close-knit community.

We bring a deep commitment to preventive health care and community involvement in a commitment "to close the gap" and improve the health and wellbeing of the Kintore community.

Your new role

As an Aged Care Support worker with Pintupi, you will support elderly community members to live with dignity and personal wellbeing, assisting with activities supporting their household management and lifestyle.

Kintore is a remote Aboriginal community where you will have the opportunity to connect with Indigenous culture in a meaningful way, provide culturally appropriate support, and develop your professional skills.

This role will take you to one of the most remote communities in Australia where you'll get to experience community life with all of its incredible wins and challenges. You will work 10 weeks on and two weeks off with the freedom to travel outside of Kintore as you wish on your two-week break. Pintupi pays for your travel wherever you want to go during that time, whether it's back home to spend some time with loved ones or somewhere brand new for a well-earned holiday!

You will work with a fantastic and dedicated team of aged care professionals, made up of 3 aged care support workers (you) and 6 community support workers who are members of the local Aboriginal community.

Role specifics:

  • Based in Kintore, NT
  • 10 weeks on, 2 weeks off
  • Paid travel out of the community during your off-time
  • Reporting to the aged-care coordinator

Benefits

This role will provide you with the opportunity to do work that makes a difference every day while also getting plenty of time off and receiving a competitive salary!

Every 10 weeks, you will have two weeks off, with travel anywhere in Australia covered. In addition to this, you will have 6 weeks annual leave and 4 weeks isolation leave a year.

In return for your dedication and hard work, you will receive a competitive salary of around $70,000 (depending on experience)PLUS super and salary sacrifice options up to $15,900. The best news is that you'll barely have to spend any of your wage on your living costs while you're in Kintore! You will receive fantastic benefits such as subsidised housing with all utilities paid for only $20 a week.

By taking on this pivotal role, you will be joining an organisation that truly values its people and actively encourages ongoing career development with assistance in completing any relevant qualifications and growing your skills.

What you bring to the table

The most important thing you will bring to this role is empathy, understanding, and patience. You will be caring for older people and liaising with their families to ensure that you and your team are providing the best quality of care you can.

Communication is another skill that will be key to your success in this role. You will need to communicate effectively with older people, families, and your team. Many of the older community members of Kintore don't speak English as their first language, which means that in this role, personal or professional experience with language barriers and similar communication challenges will help you hit the ground running.

Cultural understanding and cross-cultural teamwork will also be crucial for this role. You will be interested and engaged in learning about cultural differences and listening to the experiences and challenges of others.

A Cert III in Home and Community Care will help you hit the ground running in your role, but if you are yet to obtain this qualification, we will help you develop the skills you'll need.

Please Note: Before commencing in this role, you will need a current Driver's Licence and a national police check. You will also need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
