WHO WE ARE

Emerge Women and Children’s Support Network (Emerge) is a specialist family violence service located in the City of Kingston. We run a 24/7 secure refuge, provide crisis accommodation, temporary housing and outreach services to women who remain in their homes. We also offer a variety of programs for women and children along with therapeutic services to our clients, their children and the wider community.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Children's Case Worker to join us at our 24-hour core and cluster family violence refuge in the South East of Melbourne.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent discipline in accordance to the Royal Commission into Family Violence Recommendation 209, mandatory minimum qualifications policy, or a commitment to work towards meeting this standard within the required timeline.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in a similar role with children who have been exposed to family violence
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence, child development, trauma and attachment theory
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent case management skills to include advocacy, assessment, development and implementation of tailored case plans.
  • Ability to work Thursdays

WHAT THE ROLE IS

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist family violence service provider and work with children who have experienced family violence, working in a small team of case workers to support women and children in their recovery.

Reporting to the Refuge Team Leader, key responsibilities of the role would include:

  • Provide referral and support to children who are experiencing/escaping domestic violence
  • Provide each child with a case plan according to Emerge’s defined format and guidelines
  • Working with mothers/caregivers to support them with their parenting and to strengthen attachment
  • Working collaboratively within a small team and providing support to the Family Violence Case Workers.
