Eating Disorders Queensland (EDQ)
EDQ is a state-wide, community-based not-for-profit organisation. We support both individuals who are living with an eating disorder, their carers, loved ones, and key support people.
Support options include therapeutic and psychosocial support for individuals, coaching, and community connection for carers. EDQ also provides early intervention opportunities with community education events focused on creating healthy relationships with food and our bodies. We are passionate about eradicating weight stigma and diet culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Adherence to Policies and Procedures:
- Work in accordance with EDQ’s policies and procedures, ensuring a consistent and compliant approach.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a team of coordinators and a senior practitioner, providing clinical and operational oversight.
- Facilitate timely and collaborative clinical decision-making, triaging processes, risk assessment, and staff well-being oversight.
Collaboration with Leadership:
- Work closely with EDQ’s leadership team to review, develop, and implement policies and procedures.
- Ensure new service models align with best practice standards, maximise available resources, and meet EDQ’s strategic aims.
- Take direction from the CEO
Care Navigator Relationship:
- Maintain oversight and a close working relationship with the Care Navigator regarding waitlists and client care.
- Ensure appropriate treatment and psychosocial support for clients.
Leadership Model - BRAVING:
- Provide oversight and leadership, modelling and instilling BRAVING principles (Boundaries, reliability, accountability, vault, integrity, Nonjudgment, and generosity).
Culture Development:
- Foster a collaborative, safety-focused culture committed to reflective practice, professional development, and ethics.
- Drives clear, consistent, and transparent communication, especially during difficult conversations.
Open Communication and Boundaries:
- Communicate openly and vulnerably, setting clear and kind boundaries aligned with team KPIs and EDQ processes.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Regularly monitor KPIs, performance appraisals, performance management, training requests, staff coverage, and client management systems.
Client Management System:
- Maintain a client management system, including case notes, measurement tools, statistics/report generation, and reporting to funding bodies.
Collaboration with Research Officer:
- Work collaboratively with the Research Officer, providing information and resources for data input, conference abstracts, and opportunities for publishing EDQ services outcomes.
Specialist Therapeutic Services:
- Have a solid understanding and ability to deliver evidence-based therapeutic services for individuals with eating disorders using a multi-disciplinary approach and a feminist/social justice practice framework.
- Provide intervention and support for clients with complex needs when needed.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with relevant stakeholders, service users, and EDQ staff to optimise service delivery.
- Represent EDQ at case consultations, service partnerships, networking meetings, and events.
State-Wide Service Delivery:
- Support innovative state-wide service delivery and liaise with eating disorders-specialised services attached to Hospital and Health Services.
Strategic Understanding:
- Understand and contribute to the bigger picture around QLD, National Step Care Approaches, and EDQ’s sector placement.
Travel:
- Travel across QLD, particularly to the Cairns Office, may be required.
Key Selection Criteria:

- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling with eating disorders field experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in clinical environments.
- Ability to engage in high-level decision-making in a dynamic clinical environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of eating disorders and co-occurring presentations.
- Solid knowledge of evidence-based psychological interventions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High-level ability to provide consultation, training, and advice.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and engagement skills.
- Experience in quality assurance for best practice standards.
- Track record of working autonomously and collaboratively.
- Experience in facilitating and chairing meetings.
Reporting Relationships:
- This position reports to the CEO.
- Step up for the CEO when needed.
- Will have a collaborative leadership role within the Leadership Team
Funding:
- All positions offered by EDQ are conditional on recurrent funding from the funding bodies.
