Eco-Markets Australia Limited (Eco-Markets) is Australia’s first independent environmental markets administrator.

Eco-Markets is a not-for-profit organisation providing support services for voluntary environmental markets across Australia. It administers credible market schemes that enable the quantification and certification of ecosystem benefits derived from sustainable land and resource management practices, together with a transparent trading platform for those wishing to purchase ecosystem benefits.

Eco-Markets has vacancies on their inaugural Board for between four and six Directors.

The role of the Board is to:

• Develop and successfully implement a Business plan against the Objectives of the Company, including a funding model to ensure the sustainable future of Eco-Markets Australia;
• Provide strategic, risk and compliance, and financial oversight to the Reef Credit Scheme and other market schemes under its administrative purview;
• Manage the development and ongoing maintenance of the Reef Credit Standard and other Standards under its administration;
• Provide supervision of the Reef Credit Secretariat;
• Advocate for the development and success of environmental markets.

A Director of Eco-Markets will be passionately committed to promoting innovative market-based mechanisms that recognise and value natural capital as well as ways to help businesses meet their corporate and social responsibilities and will work collaboratively with board members to ensure that the best strategic results are delivered.

The selection panel seeks evidence of key skills as outlined in the application forms.

Directorships are non-salaried positions. Directors may, however, receive sitting fees, as determined by the Board. Reasonable travel expenses are available.
