About the role

The Project Officer will work directly with diverse communities in the EMR and the ECLC team to improve understanding of the parliamentary process in Victoria and encourage and support diverse communities to engage with the law making process.

The project will further develop links with the Multicultural Settlement Committee in the EMR, community agencies, indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities with Parliament of Victoria staff to facilitate communication and input to parliamentary processes, including participation in parliamentary inquiries; piloting an online engagement program and supporting grassroots community leaders to participate in a trial training program.

Skills Required

You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications and have demonstrated ability to establish community development projects as well as experience working with diverse communities.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Community sector awareness and liaison skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in event planning and organisation.

This position is based at the ECLC Box Hill Office with an initial working from home arrangement due to the current pandemic. Working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, you will be also be expected to have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships to support your role.
