Executive Manager - Impact, Evaluation and Reporting

Energy Consumers Australia

The Organisation

Energy Consumers Australia is the national voice for residential and small business energy consumers. We’re a small independent organisation but we have a big impact.

In the next few years, the energy transition will be one of the biggest challenges and opportunities for households and small businesses, and you will be at the heart of it. You’ll be joining an organisation that makes a difference by amplifying the voice of consumers to influence decision-makers and ensure the best outcomes for everyone in Australia from the switch to net zero.

The Role

You will be responsible for bringing our Strategic Plan, workplans and reporting to life.

With your help, we will capture the positive outcomes we achieve for consumers. Supporting the GM Public Affairs & Strategy, you will work with our Leadership Team on strategic planning, and reporting on our impact. You will help our teams identify how to measure and report on success and provide advice to the organisation on best practice project management, monitoring and evaluation. You will also assist in the setup of new systems and processes and critical infrastructure to build our capability in these areas.

ECA is a small, close-knit team, focused on achieving a better energy system for people living in Australia. For this role, we need someone agile and solutions-focused, who is happy being operational as well as coming up with great ideas.

ECA has a good work culture and a hybrid work environment with attractive offices in central Sydney and Melbourne. There are great opportunities to grow in this role for the right candidate.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Impact reporting, corporate planning, measurement and evaluation experience (experience with grants programs desirable but not essential).
  • Innovative and solutions focused – we need someone who comes with a ‘toolkit’ but is not afraid to try new things. Human centred designers welcome!
  • Advanced communications skills – the ability to write in plain English and make systems, processes, and reporting as simple and accessible as possible is a must.
  • Driven and organised – you’ll have the ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands.
  • Impact-focused – you’re focused on achieving the best outcomes for consumers from the energy transition. You enjoy using your skills to make a difference.
  • Agile – you’re able to spot opportunities and shift the focus of your work when you need to – and you’re able to build systems that enable the same.
  • Innovative and intellectually curious - you adapt to new platforms and technology, and you’re always looking at how we can work smarter.
  • Hands On – we’re a small organisation and it’s ‘all hands on deck’ for everyone, including the executive team! You’re a ‘do-er’ who takes the initiative and does whatever it takes to get the job done.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Leading, co-designing, helping implement, and embed strategic planning processes, tools, workshops, techniques, and business processes related to our planning and corporate reporting.
  • Working with our Leadership Team to help define, measure, report on, and evaluate key result metrics.
  • Providing advice (as needed) to our grants program and grants recipients on capturing the impact of our grants.
  • Encouraging a culture of innovation that enables big ideas, expert analysis and faultless execution of our targets for good consumer outcomes.
  • Supporting the design of and championing new lean and appropriate processes to improve internal communications, planning and project management systems and reporting. This will include ‘owning’ the organisations’ planning systems and training staff.
  • Supporting the Leadership Team on tasks of strategic significance including risk management reviews, annual impact reporting, RACI frameworks, improving processes and procedures, and external review preparation.
  • Leading the execution of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organisational project activity.
  • Fostering collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with staff at all levels.

Remuneration and Benefits

The role is offered on the following terms:

  • Permanent full-time position (1.0 FTE) or FTE 0.8 considered.
  • Sydney location.
  • Competitive annual salary.

Additional Benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements (3 days in the office and 2 days working from home)
  • An additional five ‘ECA leave’ days on top of four weeks annual leave.
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities including access to world class experts in energy.
  • A strong work culture which is results and impact orientated but supportive and nimble.

Energy Consumers Australia promotes diversity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia to be considered for this job.
