Coordinator

Eastern Area Tenants Service

Eastern Area Tenants’ Service (EATS) is a community-based Tenants’ Advice and Advocacy Service for renters in the Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra local government areas. EATS is funded under the Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Program (TAAP) of the NSW Fair Trading.

EATS operates on the principle that affordable and secure housing is a basic human right. We are committed to providing high-quality free advice, particularly for low income and disadvantaged renters. Our services include telephone advice, advocacy and representation (including at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal), community education, and providing input into policy and law reform in tenancy and housing-related issues.

EATS is looking for a coordinator to be responsible for the overall management and development of the service. Tasks include:

  • Directly providing advice and advocacy for renters in EATS’ catchment area;
  • Managing an advocacy team (including two full-time tenant advocates and occasional volunteer and locum staff);
  • Liaising with other TAAP services, the Tenants Union of NSW, community organisations, legal centres, and relevant government bodies;
  • Acting as a resource to, and liaising with, EATS’ Management Committee;
  • Managing service finances and reporting to the Management Committee, Fair Trading NSW, local councils and other funding bodies; and
  • Directing the policy work and campaigning activities of the organisation.

This is a permanent full-time position of 35hr/week payable at SCHAADS Lvl 7, depending on qualifications and experience.
