To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or a minimum qualification of Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child care legislation, including the National Quality Framework and all regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively mentor staff and/or teams.
  • Proven ability to effectively deliver early childhood programs
  • Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis, and Safe Food Handler certificates or willingness to obtain.
  • The ability to maintain a safe working environment utilising principles of risk management.
  • Must hold a current manual C class driver license.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous families in remote locations and the ability to operate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.

The preferred applicant must be willing to travel occasionally via light aircraft and/or 4WD vehicle to remote communities. The preferred applicant will also be required to undergo a Criminal History Check and obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

What you'll get in return:

A full time contract receiving a base salary of $67, 463.08 gross pa, plus locality allowance. You will benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading. Relocation and repatriation assistance is available.

Note: Housing is only provided for Children's Services Coordinator, Umbakumba role. Housing is not provided with Children's Services Coordinator, Yirrkala role, therefore access to own housing is a must at Nhulunbuy or Yirrkala Community for the successful candidate.
