As part of our Counselling and Support team at Ferntree Gully, EACH is looking for a Counsellor to provide support and assistance on a part-time basis 3 days per week for 6 months, making a huge difference to the lives of those who may have experienced family violence. This position will provide family violence counselling in a brief intervention model in collaboration with other community health counsellors.

What you'll be doing

You will be the primary contact for women accessing the Primary Health Child and Family Services in Melbourne's outer east while they are awaiting allocation to a clinician, family support worker or appropriate external service. The position will support women who have experienced family violence to develop a goal-oriented care safety and recovery plan for themselves and other family members affected by family violence through assessment referral and therapeutic counselling of women.

You would be working as part of busy team usually seeing 4 clients per day who have had or are experiencing family violence issues, either face to face or via telehealth sessions. You would undertake comprehensive assessments using the MARAM framework, assessing for risk of both the women and any children and using therapeutic counselling tools to work towards the clients goals that you have identified with them in a care plan. You will also be working collaboratively with your team members and other outside agencies such as Child Protection, EDVOS and or Safe Futures.

You will utilise your experience in the provision of casework, crisis intervention, trauma-informed responsiveness, family violence therapeutic intervention, and short term treatment interventions to people experiencing mental health difficulties and/or substance use problems support and care.

Working with other professionals at Ringwood within a variety of disciplines, including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Psychologists, our team is dedicated to giving clients the best possible support.
