Who we're looking for

EACH is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counsellor, to join us in a part-time FTE (0.8) to full-time negotiable capacity. We're looking for someone to provide clinical supervision and mentoring of staff, drawing on personal experience of your counselling individuals, families, groups for both voluntary and mandated clients experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance-use related disorders.

Having completed an appropriate tertiary qualification in Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing and/or AOD related field (degree or higher), our ideal candidate will also have an understanding and experience in providing therapeutic approaches such as ACT, mindfulness and brief therapy. A Diploma in AOD, as well as completed (or completing) competencies in AOD will help to set you up for success.

What you'll be doing

Based in Box Hill and the surrounding suburbs, you'll work with the Substance Use Recovery eastern (SURe) program to:

  • Supervise AOD staff;
  • Provide a full range of recovery-oriented therapeutic services;
  • Provide high-quality counselling services to all clients including forensic clients;
  • Reduce AOD related harm to individuals and their families and to promote recovery;
  • Identify a range of co-occurring mental health, social and primary health issues associated with substance use, and to provide integrated and collaborative counselling and support to address these;
  • Provide a welcoming, hopeful, empathic, strength-based, family-inclusive, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, culturally appropriate and co-occurring capable service.
