Who we're looking for

If you're a Peer Worker, qualified as Certificate IV in either Mental Health Peer Work, Disability, or equivalent, enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

As part of our team working across Boronia, EACH is looking for a Peer Worker to provide recovery-orientated, evidence-based peer support interventions to mental health clients by utilising their own lived experience of recovery in a mental health context making a huge difference to the lives of those effected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is highly preferred that you have WORKED in a lived experience capacity in a mental health role.

What you'll be doing

The Peer Worker will be an integral member of the team and draw on the unique perspective and contribution of a lived experience of recovery from mental illness and substance abuse, to instil confidence and hope in others about the recovery journey while increasing client's ability to be leading the life they want to lead.

You will:

  • Engage with clients to develop trusting and professional relationships that support clients to reach their recovery goals.
  • Utilise a Recovery framework
  • Work collaboratively with clients, carers, family and other supports to identify needs
  • Set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals.
  • Participate in regular review of progress towards identified goals.

You should have a strong sense of empathy and want to use your own experiences to support others in similar situations. You will have experience in and an understanding of mental health and the public or private health system in Australia.

Who you'll be working with

The team is newly formed to meet the growing demands of mental health support as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It consists of a supportive and trusted Team Leader, Peer Workers and Recovery workers, working from Boronia.

What we offer

EACH is committed to developing our people and you'll be supported to be your best. We provide:

  • Work arrangements that flex to you to allow for a positive work-life balance.
  • Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
  • Opportunities for internal career progression across QLD, NSW, ACT, and VIC.
  • Generous Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging of up to $15,900 free income tax per year, to maximise your take home pay.
