Who we’re looking for?

Our Pathways to Resilience team at Narre Warren is looking for a Family Violence Therapeutic Specialist to provide counselling for survivors of family violence, making a huge difference to their lives.

If you're a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Psychologist, enjoy variety in your day and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

You will have extensive experience working within family violence, child protection and/or in working with children and/or adults experiencing complex trauma environment. You’ll bring a strong person-centred approach and ability to tailor your work to meet the unique needs of children, young people and victims/survivors to help them to heal from their experiences and develop resilience into the future.

What you’ll be doing

As the Therapeutic Specialist you will provide counselling for victims/survivors using a range of evidence-based treatment approaches.

Service responses to victim/survivors include:

  • Address the trauma associated with family violence and its impact on the sense of self, confidence, relationships with others, daily life and life choices.
  • Provide family violence education and understanding of perpetrator accountability.
  • Provide linkages to universal and secondary prevention services.

 Service responses to children and young people include:

  • Ensure the therapeutic and recovery needs of the child/young person are addressed using a child-centred, family-inclusive model.
  • Provide linkages with appropriate services.
  • Advocacy for the rights of children and young people.
  • Co-facilitation of groups.

Who you’ll be working with

You will be part of multidisciplinary team of two other Therapeutic Specialists, two Peer workers, a Team Leader and Program Manager working in collaboration with other Therapeutic specialists within partnering agencies.
