Who we're looking for

If you're a Counsellor, with a Degree in Social Work or similar counselling and casework qualification, with eligibility for registration with AASW or other professional counselling association, enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

As part of our Counselling, Assessment and Support Team (CAST) within the Child, Adult and Family Services Program (CAFS) of Primary Health Care Services, EACH is looking for a Counsellor to provide trauma informed counselling and therapeutic consultation services to meet the needs of individuals, couples and families presenting for counselling support, within the Knox Municipality. You will be skilled in a variety of counselling and casework frameworks suitable for a 6-session model of counselling with both women and men. A high level of communication, both written and oral, including presentation, liaison and networking skills is required along with sound coordination and administrative skills - able to organise and administer own work programs and services; good time management skills; and data input skills. You will have a strong commitment to quality client service provision, excellence and innovation in work practices and excellence in assessment and co designed care planning and goal focused care delivery.

The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to contribute to service and team development, and to contribute to the promotion of the organisation and its services will assist you to succeed in this role.

What you'll be doing

A typical day might look like seeing 4 or 5 clients a day for therapeutic counselling with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and presenting issues. This will be either face to face counselling or telehealth counselling. You will collaborate with your team and outside networks to enhance your clients care on issues such as mental health, family violence, drug and alcohol and child safe practices. You will also be involved in the wider Knox community to participate in local health promotion activities which could involve speaking and attending local network meetings as well as facilitating groups in the community.

Who you'll be working with

You will be in a large team of 22 staff from a variety of backgrounds who work in programs such as community health counselling, family violence counselling and case work, drug and alcohol counselling and peer support, Integrated Family Support and the Access to Early Learning Program to name a few. You will also be supported by a clinical team and team leader providing regular supervision.
