Who we're looking for

To be successful in the Counselling Clinician - AOD role you will have an understanding of the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector and the ability to work with clients to achieve the goals they set for themselves. If you work in a trauma-informed and client-centred way we would love you to join our team. This position would suit an experienced Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor who is able to contribute to positive outcomes for clients.

Appropriate tertiary qualification/s in Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing and/or AOD related field (degree or higher) or a Diploma in AOD, completed or completing competencies in dual diagnosis, experience in the provision of counselling to individuals, families, groups for both voluntary and mandated clients experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance-use related disorders will be essential.

What you'll be doing

The Counselling Clinician - AOD position, will provide accessible, high quality, therapeutic AOD counselling, and associated health services to the target group, work towards reducing AOD related harm to individuals and their families and to promote recovery. You are expected to see clients, work with them in a counselling environment, and provide comprehensive case notes. Community engagement and promoting the service is also an element of the role.

Provide a welcoming, hopeful, empathic, strength-based, family-inclusive, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, culturally appropriate, and co-occurring capable service.

The Counselling Clinician - AOD will work with a team of professional and passionate clinicians within the program at EACH.
