headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation and plays a vital role in our community supporting young people and their families with mental health and wellbeing. headspace provides access to mental health support, AOD counselling, vocational support, and primary health support to young people aged 12-25yrs.

headspace Dandenong (hSD), headspace Narre Warren (hSNW), headspace Pakenham (hSP) and headspace Hastings (hSH) make up a group of headspace centres located in SE Melbourne, under the management of EACH. Our vision is for a healthy and inclusive community.

Who we're looking for

Our committed headspace Community Engagement team in the South East are looking for an ongoing Community Engagement Coordinator to join them.

Are you passionate about youth mental health promotion? Are you a natural collaborator and enjoy partnering with others for a common goal? Are you qualified in a relevant health, education or community service discipline? Then you might be the ideal candidate to join our team!

We're seeking an energetic and dynamic individual to oversee and support the headspace SE community engagement activities, as well as the Youth Action Force reference group. An understanding of youth participation theory, frameworks and experience in providing leadership to youth-led groups will be integral in the success of this role.

What you'll be doing

The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide direct support and leadership to the community engagement team. The role will oversee & participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of service wide community engagement activities in conjunction with the headspace Senior Leadership Team. This will include leading the organisation in the delivery of relevant community events and activities such as headspace training activities, community events, and promotional days/weeks.

Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to proactively seek funding options to enhance participation activities are required. There is never a dull moment so you will need exceptional organisational skills, time management skills, and ability to coordinate programs and rosters. You will also be required to regularly work flexible hours, including weekend and after-hours work.

Who you'll be working with

Working closely with the headspace SE teams, you will assist with the provision of integrated referral pathways and programs for young people into mental health, recreational and educational/vocational supports. Working with other professionals within headspace and partnering organisations, our team is dedicated to giving young people the best possible support.
