Domestic Violence Victoria (DV Vic) is the peak body for specialist family violence services for victim survivors in Victoria. We are an independent, non-government organisation. Our vision is for a world where everyone can live fulfilled lives, free from fear and violence.
DV Vic is looking for a values driven, family violence and community sector specialist to join our growing team and organisation.
DV Vic seeks a Policy Advisor to support our work of informing and influencing public policy development, particularly in the context of the Royal Commission into Family Violence reforms.
Reporting directly to the Policy Unit Manager and working in close collaboration with the policy and practice development teams, the Policy Advisor will lead policy development and advocacy in specified portfolio areas primarily related to strengthening service responses and intervention programs for victim-survivors of family violence (including children) and those using family violence, informed by emerging and established evidence.
Suitable candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of Intersectional Feminism and family violence, and demonstrated capability for critical analysis and well-developed written and verbal communication skills used to develop complex policy responses to family violence.
This position will particularly suit family violence practitioners with the interest and ability to translate their practice knowledge and experience into a strategic policy and peak body advocacy context.
Domestic Violence Victoria is committed to providing flexible and accessible working arrangements for all. This includes people with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, culturally, religiously and linguistically diverse people, young people, older people, women, and people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex or queer. We recognise the strength and value in diversity, remain open to new approaches and actively foster an inclusive workplace that celebrates the contribution made by all our people.
