Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria (DVRCV)’s vision is to create a world in which gender equality ensures women and their children are thriving, respected and free from violence.

We are a statewide resource centre and registered training organisation working across prevention and response, providing:

  • Training courses, forums, events and workshops
  • Resources for professionals, victims, friends and family
  • Family violence websites and online resources
  • Advocacy and policy advice
  • Information and referrals

DVRCV and Domestic Violence Victoria (DV Vic) have agreed to merge under the umbrella of DV Vic.

DV Vic is the peak body for specialist family violence response services for victim survivors in Victoria. DV Vic is an independent, non-government organisation which:

  • Advocates and provides advice to government with and on behalf of its members
  • Leads innovation and influences policy, legislation and community attitudes
  • Works with its members to strengthen specialist family violence practice and build the capacity of human services
  • Works respectfully and collaboratively with its partners

DV Vic’s work is informed by the experiences of adult and child victim survivors impacted by family violence.

This role will be employed by DV Vic and initially based at DVRCV during the merge transition period.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role you will work alongside the Manager for Communications and Engagement in the establishment and implementation of a broad program of partnerships and projects work, with a primary focus on consumer participation and survivor advocacy.

In particular, the role will support the implementation of the Experts by Experience Framework (the Framework) within the new entity, and within DV Vic’s membership. This will include:

  • Supporting the scoping and development of a business case for the establishment of a victim survivor advocacy and consulting mechanism within the peak.
  • Providing coordination and support to survivor advocates during the establishment period of this function.
  • Coordinating the development and delivery of capability building resources and workshops to support DV Vic’s membership to implement the Framework and non-member organisations to align consumer participation work with the Framework.
  • Coordinating the development and delivery of a fit for purpose consumer participation framework for working with victim-survivors of family violence that can be used by the Essential Services Commission across its regulatory functions and affiliated water and energy businesses.

The role reports to the Manager of Communications and Engagement at DVRCV and sits within the DVRCV Communications and Marketing team. This is an opportunity to work with a passionate and growing team.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Relevant tertiary education (or minimum 3 years’ experience) in social work, community development, or another relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience working with victim survivors of family violence, working with specialist family violence services and/or working within the specialist family violence system
  • Demonstrated experience managing collaborative relationships and engaging multiple and diverse stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Skills and experience in developing strategic goals into actionable projects, strategies and implementation plans, including managing multiple and sometimes competing priorities
  • Experience and skills producing high quality written reports and fit for purpose communication tools tailored to different audiences and formats
  • Highly developed verbal communication skills, including influencing and negotiation skills, ability to listen and adapt to audience needs, and ability to lead and facilitate groups
  • Experience in and passion for consumer participation within human services sectors, including the role of survivor advocacy in the design, delivery and evaluation of family violence services and in media and communications activity
  • Understanding of the MARAM framework and experience supporting the autonomy and empowerment of victim survivors while managing family violence risk
  • Experience conducting desktop research and data analysis to inform the development and implementation of project activities
  • Understanding of intersectional feminism and the role/application of an intersectional lens to family violence prevention and response
