For over 40 years Diamond Valley Learning Centre (DVLC) has transformed lives through creating educational opportunities for people of the Banyule/Nillumbik region and the wider precinct not served by mainstream education: women returning to work, immigrants, at-risk youth and older citizens. DVLC is considered to be a thriving hub of activity where people come to learn new skills, meet others and complete courses that enable them to take a new direction in life.

Diamond Valley Learning Centre (DVLC) is a not-for-profit charitable organization operating as an Adult Learning Centre, a Registered Training Organization (RTO), a Learn Local and a Neighbourhood House.

Located at the corner of Diamond Creek and St Helena Roads in Greensborough, DVLC offers Foundation courses including Language, Literacy & Numeracy, Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) for disengaged and disadvantaged youth, Vocational Education and Training qualifications in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Business Administration, Community Services and Information Technology.

DVLC also offers Pre-accredited training in basic skills necessary for further study or entry level employment. As a Neighbourhood House, DVLC serves self-managed groups and offers activities that go towards improving quality of life. DVLC is committed to child safety and to zero tolerance of child abuse. As part of the organisation’s culture, DVLC will ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding child safety. All staff are responsible and will be held accountable for their continuing compliance with the Child Safety Policy.

The VCAL Program Coordinator's role covers coordination of the VCAL Program including VCAL teachers & staff professional development, VASS and VETrak reporting, student’s enrolment, engagement and wellbeing. The VCAL Coordinator contributes to the safety and wellbeing, educational, and pathways planning processes for students enrolled into the VCAL Program. As a Teacher, the position assists students to re-engage in education through development and delivery of flexible, innovative and hands-on VCAL curriculum.

This position is the face of DVLC in the local community and with stakeholders in matters relating to VCAL Program. You will have the opportunity to assume a leadership position in the local community liaising with major employers, schools, community organisations and referring agencies to ensure the program success and expansion. The position is key in building an organisational culture of child safety.

In this role, you will:

  • Recruit, engage and participate : Take a lead role in developing and implementing marketing and student recruitment strategies to support DVLC’s strategic objectives; Ensure students at risk of disengaging are provided with wellbeing support including educational, physical, mental and emotional; Ensure a high standard of service delivery to students by providing detailed program information, efficient enrolment procedures and support
  • Deliver the VCAL curriculum: Develop and deliver appropriate Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) learning and assessment materials that are enriching and engaging for students in accordance with the Victorian Curriculum And Assessment Authority (VCAA) requirements
  • Build and contribute to an effective Team: Develop an effective team and create avenues for effective communication with all staff through regular meetings, collaborative problem solving, professional development and dissemination of information
  • Child Safety: Play an active role and contribute to an organisational culture of child safety and actively participate in practices that reduce the risk of child abuse

This is a full time role. 3 days of coordination and 2 days of teaching.

Applicants MUST have a current VIT registration and Certificate IV in TAE.
