Position Overview

The Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is seeking an interim General Manager to take on key management responsibilities related to the profile, stakeholder engagement and financial sustainability of the organisation. This interim role will allow DVCS to recruit and appoint a new Chief Executive Officer within a year.

Based in the Australian Capital Territory, the Interim General Manager will have oversight of the DVCS Leadership Team, which is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the service. The Interim General Manager will report directly to the DVCS Board. The successful appointee will demonstrate a commitment to the community sector and its purpose, relating well to the not-for-profit environment, as well as having a good business acumen and understanding of government.

The Interim General Manager will carry out these responsibilities in accordance with the directions and policies established by the Board of Directors, as well as being committed to the aims and principles of the Domestic Violence Crisis Service.

Duties include:

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Spokesperson

  • Maintain staff and community commitment

2. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain and foster relationships
  • Liaise and network

3. Organisational Leadership

  • Support financial management and sustainability
  • Maintain revenue and funding streams

4. Governance

  • Develop and maintain a solid relationship with the Board
  • Communicate and report to the Board on a regular basis, including attending Board meetings
  • Undertake responsibilities as the Public Officer and adhere to corporate legislation.

Salary guide: up to $145,000 plus 9.5% superannuation (per annum pro rata) negotiable - based on skills and experiences
