At DVConnect our aim is for all relationships to be free from domestic, family and sexual violence. We are the only service providing a state-wide response across Queensland through our Womensline, Mensline and Sexual Assault Helplines to meet the safety needs of those living with domestic and family violence. We also provide specialist therapeutic counselling support across Australia, within the national 1800RESPECT program.

Your New Role

This is a great opportunity for an experience leader to join our team supporting our amazing Service Delivery Manager and team in delivering the DVConnect Womensline and Sexual Assault Helplines. In this role you will (in collaboration with the other Team leader and with the support of shift leaders), be leading a dedicated team of counsellors who, in turn, support clients via the phone in a 24/7 service.

On a day to day basis you will provide operational support and leadership, mentoring and coaching, decision making and learning opportunities for the team. This position is specifically responsible for all activities and staff delivering the Triage and Crisis Intervention functions of Womensline.

The role will be required to participate in an on-call roster to ensure 24/7 support is available to the team.

What you Need to Succeed

  • Tertiary Qualification in the areas of Social and Behavioural Sciences or other appropriate qualifications
  • Strong practice background working in a crisis service, ideally within the domestic and family violence sector and exposure to a 24/7 service environment
  • Experience and demonstrated capacity in leading a diverse team resulting in creating a positive culture and consistency of service delivery.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a wider leadership team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with wide stakeholder groups.
  • Built in drive and initiative, you can manage a packed schedule and able to absorb changing requirements as they present
  • Thirst for learning with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Works well under pressure, able to meet deadlines and stay calm in difficult situations
  • Willingness to be flexible with hours of work outside of normal business hours on occasion to meet operational requirements
