The Breaking Digital Barriers Project Officer will support people to use technology in an increasingly digital world. The aim of the project is to help people to build digital skills and confidence, to close the digital divide, develop an IT loaning library and reduce social and economic exclusion through group training and one-on-one digital mentoring. The ideal candidate will share our passion for social justice and inclusion, can engage with a variety of stakeholders (older Australians, people living with a disability, people from other cultures/refugees, people who are socially isolated), are digitally savvy and are excited to take on new challenges with initiative and creativity.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

  • Develop and facilitate pre-accredited training courses to build digital skills and confidence
  • Develop and implement an IT loaning library
  • Provide participants with one-on-one digital mentoring
  • Provide support to volunteers and work placement students who are providing digital mentoring
  • Collaborate with the team on innovative promotional strategies to raise awareness of our services and attract learners and community partners
  • Measure the impact of the project: such as social connection, improved feelings of health & wellbeing, and development of vocational skills

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Strong facilitation, training and project management skills
  • Have expertise in Microsoft Office 365, Google apps/G-suite, Zoom, Whats App and be comfortable with learning new digital tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a range of competing priorities

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Salary and conditions: Neighbourhood Houses & Adult Community Education 2016 - the hourly rate will be negotiated dependent on qualifications and experience.
