drummond street services (DS) is a not-for-profit, non-denominational agency that has over 130 years in the development and delivery of innovative services that strengthen families and communities with a strong focus on evidence-based/informed practice and across the prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery spectrum of universal and targeted support.
The Counselling Service provides state wide, trauma informed counselling services with survivors of institution child sexual abuse and with people with disabilities who have experienced violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation that are accessible, client-focused and meet the needs of clients, their families and carers. With a state-wide catchment, utlising face-to-face, phone and online mediums to meet the diversity of clients and localities, the service will also provide supportive referrals to legal support services, advocates, financial support services, counselling and psychological care providers. With active referral to or collaboration with appropriate services to provide social and practical support to clients such as housing, health, mental health, financial and aged care services in order to meet the critical needs of the individual, the service offers a recovery model of support that is flexible, compassionate, respectful, empowering and holistic.
drummond street is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join their Complex Trauma Counselling Service on a full-time, contract basis until the end of June 2022. This role will be based in Coburg, with travel with metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria required.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this role will see you lead and collaborate with a trans-disciplinary trauma informed team to ensure delivery of high quality, client led counselling services. An extremely important position that includes contributing to the success of the Disability Royal Commission, you'll provide a diverse range of services relevant to each person’s situation, harnessing opportunities to facilitate and encourage an ongoing, open connection and dialogue.
