Your role as the Practitioner LGBTIQA+ Disability Project
drummond street services, queerspace, has been funded to deliver a targeted outreach program for people with disabilities and their families from LGBTIQA+ communities, to codesign flexible outreach and systemic advocacy responses during the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Practitioner role is part-time (0.6 FTE) on a contract basis, until the end of June 2022 and will consult, plan, codesign and deliver activities focused on social isolation and connection with key LGBTIQA+ and disability community members via existing drummond street/ queerspace service and stakeholder platforms. The role will be based in the inner-northern region (Carlton location) subject to public health restrictions.
About you
You are a LGBTIQA+ identified reflective practitioner who is looking to become part of a team committed to social justice and is interested in building supportive connections for people with disabilities within the LGBTIQA+ community.
The following Key Selection Criteria will be essential in this position:
- This is an identified LGBTIQA+ role and only applicants from the above nominated communities should apply.
- Qualifications in social work, community development or equivalent.
- Minimum two years' experience in delivering programs to individuals and groups, preferably in the LGBTIQA+/ disability sector
- Demonstrated ability to co-design and co-deliver projects and programs
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs, issues and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal, LGBTIQA+, people with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse people and communities
- Experience in delivering social media and communications campaigns
- Demonstrated organisational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work tasks
- Demonstrated capacity to work creatively, show initiative, contribute ideas and be active in a supportive team environment in an agency working to support individual and family relationships
