We are looking for a new board member who identifies as a person with disability and can contribute their expertise to shaping DRC’s strategic direction and driving positive impact for the work we do. The position is based in Melbourne and is a voluntary role. Meetings are mostly online with occasional face to face appointments.
Who We Are:
- DRC is a values-led organisation run by and for people with disability
- DRC is an individual advocacy and campaigning organisation. We are funded to provide individual advocacy for adults with disability.
- DRC runs a radically inclusive network called Belong, which aims to connect all people with disability in Victoria.
- We work to promote the rights and choices of people with disability, and we challenge systems to achieve social and economic inclusion.
What You'll Do:
As a Board Member, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the direction of our organization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Attending bi-monthly board meetings
- Attending meetings for one or more subcommittees which are bi-monthly or less as required
- Collaborating with a diverse and passionate team of board members and staff
- Advocating for change at local and national levels
- Supporting fundraising and community engagement efforts
- Contributing your skills and expertise to make a lasting impact in the lives of people with disability
What We're Looking For:
We would love to hear from you if you can contribute any of these skills or experience:
- Experience and/or qualifications in finance and accounting
- Experience, qualifications or strong understanding of governance, particularly in the non-for-profit sector
- Experience in marketing and communications
- Experience in philanthropic fundraising, donations and grants
- Experience and/or understanding of legal, risk and compliance
- Experience in a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer or similar leadership role on a board
