Disability Rights Advocacy Service Incorporated (DRAS) is part of the national network of Disability Advocacy Services funded by the Australian government. DRAS provides individual and systemic advocacy for people with disabilities, their families and their carers.

The South East Region - Disability Advocate and Disability Royal Commission Advocate is a role with DRAS providing individual advocacy and advocacy assistance to people wishing to make submissions to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability. The Advocate would provide services to people living in the south east region of South Australia and includes the District Councils of Lacepede, Naracoorte and Lucindale, Robe, Tatiara, Grant, Wattle Range, Mt Gambier and the Coorong region. The position will be responsible to the CEO and will work under the general supervision of a senior DRAS Advocate, and the Disability Royal Commission Advocacy Coordinator to provide high quality advocacy services to and on behalf of people with disabilities, their families and carers living in the south eastern region of South Australia.

Special Conditions: The position is offered on a work from home basis and is offered as a part-time, fixed term contract up to the 30/6/2021 with possible extension for a further 12 months. The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a DCSI Working with Vulnerable Persons and Working with Children screening prior to being employed. Applicants will also be required to hold current First Aid and Child Safe Environments Certificates. The successful applicant must also hold a current Australian issued Drivers Licence (equivalent to minimum class C South Australian Licence – provision would be made if the successful candidate has a disability that precludes them from being able to drive).

Remuneration: The position is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHCADS)
