Disability Rights Advocacy Service Incorporated (DRAS) is part of the national network of Disability Advocacy Services funded by the Australian government. DRAS provides individual and systemic advocacy for people with disabilities, their families and their carers.

The Peer Mentor: is a role with DRAS and the position will be responsible to the Project Coordinator: Individual Capacity Building, providing high quality support for people with disability to develop skills related to their rights and how to achieve them. This will include assisting people with disabilities who call for support and resources to help with advocating for their rights.

Special Conditions: The successful applicant will have lived experience of disability.

This position is offered on a part-time, fixed term contract up to 30/06/2022. The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete DHS Working with Vulnerable Persons and Working with Children screening prior to being employed. Applicants will also be required to hold current First Aid Certificate – if physically capable. Must hold a current Australian issued Drivers Licence (equivalent to minimum class C South Australian), and have use of own roadworthy car as required. Some regional travel with overnight stays is required. All expenses – including for use of own vehicle – will be reimbursed.

Remuneration: The position is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHCADS)
