As a Grade 1 Occupational Therapist you will participate in rotations over the twelve-month program across: 

  • Adult Occupational Therapy Program, including hand therapy and 
  • Paediatric Child Health Program and our Early Childhood Intervention Program 

We will support you to develop and grow with industry mentors, peer networks and on the job training.

A little about the role 

With the expectation of starting in early February 2023, you will work within a Family and Client Centred Framework to provide a comprehensive centre based and home-based consultative Occupational Therapy service to children and adults.   

What does our Occupational Therapy Team do?

The Occupational Therapy Team is responsible for providing quality intervention and expertise by working closely with the client, family, colleagues and across several teams, providing a broad range of services to meet our community’s needs and priorities including:  

  • The delivery of evidence-based interventions within a transdisciplinary and/or multidisciplinary team of allied health and education professionals. 
  • Early childhood intervention supports and services ranging from infants throughout childhood. 
  • Structured support for adults with a strong focus on prevention, early intervention, restorative and strength-based interventions to facilitate the maintenance and/or improvement of activities of daily living.  
  • Assessment and support of clients to improve their functional abilities, independence and access to the community as well as build the capacity of their carers/family. Creating client directed care plans to help the client achieve their agreed goals; and 
  • Delivering a range of therapy programs which may consist of one or more options, including short term goal focused group therapy, individual sessions, or home-based programs.  

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will: 

  • Complete your Bachelor or Masters (by coursework) in Occupational Therapy in 2022 or have recently graduated. 
  • Possess a passion for working within a diverse and inclusive community environment. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Demonstrate early career experience in providing Occupational Therapy assessments, planning, treatment, education and management. 
  • Demonstrate independence, initiative and agility; and 
  • Demonstrate innovation and integrity in excellent service delivery

  • Be required to undergo a National Police Check, hold a valid Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check. 
  • Have eligibility for Australian Health Professionals Registration Agency (AHPRA) Occupational Therapy registration. 
  • Eligibility for SWEP registration. 
  • Have full COVID-19 Vaccination. 
  • Have full driver’s license and travel between sites is required

This is a fixed term 12-month program with the potential for ongoing employment for high performing clinicians.
