Doncare has been part of the fabric of Melbourne’s East for over 50 years, providing community support services to vulnerable and disadvantaged children, adults and families, particularly in the City of Manningham. With the vision of an inclusive safe community where all in need are offered the support they require, Doncare provides personalised services including counselling, family services, social support, child mental health assistance, family violence prevention and recovery, crisis support and emergency relief.

Doncare is currently seeking to recruit new volunteer Board members. The appointment is for a three year term and may be renewed. The role carries the typical expectations of an NFP Board member in providing strategic direction and governance to our agency.

The Board is keen to hear from people with experience in any of the following areas:

• Finance and accounting
• Marketing, public relations, and public affairs
• Health and community services, including mental health
• Government service delivery, social welfare programs, and grants
• IT and data management

We welcome applications from community members with sound judgment and integrity who share Doncare’s compassion for community. We value diversity of thought and experience and believe that our inclusive and collaborative culture contributes to our success.

We also welcome applications from community members who bring a lived experience of mental health challenges in their local, family, or personal context.

The Doncare Board meets monthly in the evenings on the third Monday of the month. Board members are expected to serve on Board Sub-Committees from time to time, which meet on an as-required basis.
