About the Role

The Team Leader, Intake Counselling & Emergency Relief will guide the team to ensure the continued provision of high-quality counselling intake and assessment and delivery of emergency relief.   

The position requires a self-motivated innovative individual who can provide leadership, direction and support to staff and volunteers within the program. 

A key part of this role will be contributing to both re-establishing services impacted by COVID and ongoing program development, whilst ensuring the continued smooth running of current operations. The individual must be capable of managing competing priorities whilst continuing to deliver on agreed tasks, reporting appropriately to the Director, Community Services and Innovation. 

The Team Leader, Intake Counselling & Emergency Relief will be required to:

  • Oversee a team responsible for assessing and undertaking comprehensive risk and needs assessments for the counselling program that may include complexity, inclusive of family violence.
  • Coordination, manage, supervise, and develop staff, students and volunteers to ensure respectful and supportive coordination and delivery of practical emergency relief and short term follow up support.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or equivalent.
  • Love creativity and a challenge
  • Experience working with women and children who have experienced family violence is desirable.
  • Experience in providing supervision of staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the preparation of reports and data entry.
  • Experience and competence in intake and assessment to ensure the team deliver high quality counselling assessments and can prioritise and match counselling referrals.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of social justice issues facing clients and respect for clients who are vulnerable and in crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive safety and wellbeing assessments.
