Remote / Work from Home
Compost Revolution is a social venture on the front lines of the war on waste, working with local councils to slash the amount of food scraps and organics that end in landfill, while creating more abundant and climate resilient communities.
We're hiring a new Support Squad team member to provide revolutionary customer service support for our recruited residents as they begin their journey recycling their food scraps at home.
Our Support Officers are responsible for providing front-line customer service and platform support for our service. You’ll be engaging with first time waste warriors on digital channels (and the odd festival) to help them along their journey as well as new worm farmers looking for some help with a smell or strange farm visitor. It's a fact that people expect Amazonian level service on the web and help when things go awry. That’s where you step in, fixing the unfixable, going above and beyond to make sure everyone gets the best start as they join us in saving their soil – and our planet – by recycling their food scraps.
It's not all about recruitment however – we’re focussed on retaining people that join the revolution, because we’re not driven or measured by how many units we sell, but by the communities we help become greener, by diverting (70+ tonnes!) of food waste every day. We can only do that if we ensure almost everyone who joins, stays on and spreads the word.
You’re organised, professional under fire, optimistic even when the chips are down, a digital native, while having your feet (and hands) firmly planted on (and in!) the ground. That means we’re looking for someone already into, and reasonably proficient in, composting and worm farming. (bonus points for bokashi!) You don’t need to be a Jedi level composter, but we need people who know their way around a compost bin. We're looking for the enlightened ones who love the smell of worm tea in the morning, and are as passionate about the importance of nurturing our local soil – and our communities – as we are.
Support - pre and post recruitment inquiries.
Our main channel for incoming council, customer and supplier support is Intercom - a world-class software platform that allows inquiries to be assigned, tracked, managed and classified using ‘tags’ to ensure accurate reporting of the issues generating inquiries. Our community communicates with us mainly via email and Facebook/Instagram so we pipe these feeds into Intercom to simplify the management of a steady stream of messages.
Social - content curation and creation
Working with our dedicated team of composting experts and worm farmers you'll curate and craft engaging informative video, images and words. We love getting hands-on so you'll be able to create your own how to videos, experiment with the latest compostable products and road test our newest inventions.
We’re a small venture with a big mission, so we muck in when and where necessary to make it work. Job titles and responsibilities help us stay focussed, but what matters most is that we look after each other and our community – and that means doing what needs to be done to help out. The side effect of that is a nicely diverse workload with new challenges each day – and grateful work-mates who love your fix-it ways.
The Compost Revolution is a social venture which exists to fight the war on waste while creating greener, more resilient communities.
We do this by recruiting households across Australia to join us in recycling their food and garden scraps. We believe that we need to keep the valuable nutrients from our food waste in our local soil to ensure the wellbeing of our communities – and we want half of Australia doing exactly that by 2030 (we're at about 25%). It is our mission to build a movement to make this backyard revolution happen.
We work with councils across Australia, and other progressive organisations, to engage and empower people to join us in that mission. Our award winning service is constantly evolving and we focus on improving it on a daily basis. While we’re a training and support, marketing, e-commerce and logistics enterprise in essence – what is really important is that we’re a team of passionate social impact activists, who want to see a better world blossom, through our work revolutionising the minds and gardens of Australia.
