The Company:

Our client Is a well-established not-for-profit organisation based within the health sector. They have a working focus to improve health outcomes for people affected by a particular condition and need support. Not only do they work with industry professionals, they also work alongside consumer organisations and government departments.

The Role:

Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for the organisations external communications, publications, project funding opportunities, and government and stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies for programs and activities, including multiple websites and social media channels, tools and resources for health professionals and consumers, and the national treatment guidelines
  • Ensure all external communication materials are accurate and appropriate, including resources for health professionals and patients, web content, social media and promotional pieces
  • Act as primary liaison for the media and PR agency, including planning media calendars, providing briefings on required media activities, approving media releases, identifying expert spokespeople, and acting as spokesperson on minor stories if required
  • Oversee, and when required coordinate, development of online content and marketing material for patients and consumers
  • Prepare regular Board reports on communications activities and oversee preparation of the annual report
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with a range of individual stakeholders and organisations, including pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and other respiratory health and/or chronic disease bodies
  • Provide government relations advice to the CEO
  • In consultation with the CEO, develop funding submissions, tenders and sponsorship proposals for government and corporate sponsors, including identifying new funding opportunities

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary education in communications, PR, journalism or related fields.
  • Excellent stakeholder relations skills and ability to deal with a diverse range of organisations and people
  • Excellent project management skills (including planning, coordination, budgeting, time management, stakeholder management)
  • Experience in government relations and advocacy projects
  • Experience in team management and leadership at a senior level
  • Medical, pharmacy or health sciences qualifications or experience
  • Familiarity with guidelines methodology and evidence-based medicine
  • Experience working for not-for-profit organisation

This is an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Communications Manager to join a well respected Not for Profit on a 12 month maternity leave contract. This position is based in South Melbourne with two days in the office and three from home.
